In 1992, Charlotte Bonogofsky founded Icy Mountain Water Co. in the basement of her duplex. Originally aiming to open a health product store, Charlotte started with a small distiller that produced one gallon of pure water every eight hours. Initially, she gave away the water along with the herbs and vitamins she sold. However, the growing demand led to the purchase of larger distillers and the sale of 5-gallon bottles of water. As demand increased, her duplex was soon filled with health products and bottled water, necessitating a move to a new location.

The Store

Her first storefront was a modest 300 square feet, with cheap rent but no heating, making winters challenging. After just one year, she moved to a larger, 650 square-foot store. After two years, an eviction notice from the City forced another move due to new road construction, leading to their current 7,000 square-foot location.
Over the years, Charlotte's family, including her husband Neil, daughters Brandy and Amanda, and grandson Cayson, have joined the business. Charlotte's mother also contributed for a time. Today, a dedicated team of staff members helps deliver the exceptional service customers have come to expect from Icy Mountain Water Co.

Icy Mountain Water Co. is proud to be Medicine Hat’s only local manufacturer of bagged cubed ice and increasingly popular ice blocks. Our bottled water service extends from Medicine Hat to Dunmore, Redcliff, Seven Persons, Bow Island, Burdett, Foremost, Suffield, Ralston, and Jenner. We offer a wide range of health products, including those from The Goodly Company, Riverstone, Sunrider, Ancient Minerals, and ProMedics, as well as Excalibur Dehydrators, distributed throughout Western Canada. Our state-of-the-art bottle washing equipment exceeds bottling standards. We also offer water treatment, soda stream refills, propane exchange, and a unique Drive Thru service.
